I headed into the office today. Meant to leave by 10am but got a little distracted. Thankfully our manager canceled a standing group meeting at 11am because 2 of our other team members were out of office today. So I had some wiggle room. No need to rush.
Doug dropped me at the metro station, how kind of him, and I was at my office in 35 minutes. It really is an easy go of it. I sometimes forget how close I am to downtown. I grabbed lunch from the cafe, it's always so good and when they post the menu weekly I always say "damn, I wish I was at the office for this grub." Ha.
I ate a damn good brisket with mashed potatoes. I got some work done, saw some people, went to a run through of the Tiny Desk that I was going to miss due to a meeting. I had a nice chat with our department head, and that meeting that made me miss the tiny desk.
And then my friends C & C arrived. They're camping in a town nearby, and came into the city to do the touristy thing yesterday and today. And I'm part of the touristing.
We had a great time, and decided instead of walking the mall or going to the Tidal Basin because it is a lot further a walk from the Smithsonian metro than one thinks, we went to dinner. Doug initially was going to join us but still sick, so he bowed out.
The waitress told us it was happy hour, my friend C said it was early bird special time. We laughed.
Dinner was great. Time together was great. They headed back to the campground and I headed home. I walked from the train to the house, thinking to myself how this one little hill used to kick my ass and I'd have to stop and rest halfway up.
Always great to have a nice visit.
