The Potato Vibe

I haven't been setting an alarm lately because Dahlia is (was) always up early. Without her here, the trash guys came down the street at 8:30am and woke me up. I was in the guest room and Toffee was with me, curled up cozy and nice. And she slept straight through their noise.

We're back to our Potato Vibe. Today was a busy work day, a lot of moving parts, a lot of discussions. A few meetings. And Toffee sat next to me, tucked in with her head against my thigh under my lap desk.

There was no early morning bitey face fight. I didn't have to throw a toy down the hall 90 times while on a conference call or teaching a training class.

I let her outside, and she didn't jump the fence or run off - she can just be out there and be a good girl. And then come in and nap. We walked around the yard several times to get steps and she wasn't under house arrest on the leash, so she'd zoomies zoom around me, and eat grass, and chase bees.

In other news, Doug took yesterday and today off to do some stuff to help his aunt.

We hadn't heard from her for a while, and she called over the weekend with some rather surprising news. She sold her condo, and she has 30days to move out.

Of course you do.

As my husband is her power of attorney, he wanted all the detail on this. He also wants to put a stop to this, because she has nowhere else to go, she has no money for a first/last payment for rent for an apartment. She is not on any senior housing waiting list for her county. And Doug found the elder services and finds there is a 2-3 year waiting list.

Of course there is.

So. Being the dutiful family member he is, yesterday he went out there to meet with her and his cousin, get some paperwork, and it is a lot of work.

Her lawyer won't talk to Doug because she owes them money.

The HOA at the condo association is suing her.

She lost her phone, and got another phone and lost that, and got another phone which she hasn't lost yet. So she is paying for service on three phones.

Doug found one of the phones in her car, he could see it between the seat and the door and pulled it out for her like he was a magician. Her key fob is somewhere in the car. She can't find it. But it starts when she presses the button so she's not mad.

He spent a lot of time there yesterday rounding up all the things, and he came home, sent email. Tried to get ahold of the, as she calls him, the 'Investor' that she sold the condo to. Ooooooo the Investor!

The guy has not emailed him back. But Doug pointed out she has not signed the paperwork to actually SELL the house. She signed paperwork to do paperwork to get things ready for paperwork.

He's relatively confident he can get this kiboshed. And all she has to do is not sign the papwerwork.

Today he went back out. He wanted to go to the banks to find out about her accounts and everything and get himself on the accounts. As her POA.

I said to him, "so are you going to go see her at her place or something?" and he said "oh hell no. Today is get things done day."

He was at the bank meeting with someone and getting info that he needed and she showed up. Of course she did. She was there to fuss about her debit card not working. She kept getting rejected for the pin, so they offered to reset it. It still didn't work for her so Doug took it, punched in the numbers and it worked.

So she's all "oh! He's a wizard! It works for him but not for me!"

They went to the next bank together but they wouldn't be seen because they didn't make an appointment. Fancy bank I guess. There's a branch right close to us, they recorded in the system that he is her POA so he made an appointment for himself to go up and meet there.

Then he took her out to lunch.

He came home and crashed. I can't say as I blame him. This is exhausting and I'm not even participating in this.

I made dinner so Geoff could get to class. I took Toffee for a walk because I needed 3k steps to get to 10k. He is elbow deep in her banking paperwork and statements. I'm off to bed. Long ass day with a full ass day tomorrow.

I didn't take a picture today but this is from last night when we just chillaxed and settled into our old routines.  Digits below.
