When we lived in Massachusetts, Geoff had a job with a company that did inventory in stores. It was an overnight job, and he had to travel with a team, stay at a hotel, get up before 5am, be in the lobby, and go to different stores. They had these things that looked like Star Trek guns and they'd count stuff.
He had many adventures.
Somehow, either they reached out to him or he reached out to them and they have work here in this area of the world so he is going to work for them. I told him this is great, I do not have a problem with this, since he feels like he needs to have a job if he is going to apply for anything like an apartment or a credit card. He's still spinning his wheels on a credit card and having a credit history and all that.
Anyway, he says to me, "I have a form online that has to be completed to prove my citizenship and stuff, so I need someone to be a witness for it."
Okay. I can do that I guess. Ask them if they'll take me? He did and they said yes.
It was the I-9 form that we all need to complete for jobs and usually an HR person would do that for you. I was surprised they didn't ask for pictures of the items, but, whatever. I filled it out for him. A passport (item from column A) or 2 items from column B so a birth certificate and driver's license .
And the thing is, I knew exactly where his birth certificate was. I keep all the important identification documents all in the same place, together. Car titles, title to the house, all 4 birth certificates, I have a copy of my dad's death certificate, I think. So mission accomplished.
I am not sure though, why do I have 10 copies of my marriage certificate? How'd that happen? Weird.
Anyway, he's all set, verified, available for work whenever they tell him to show up. As long as it isn't tomorrow or Wednesday. Our car is going in the shop, and we'll need this car to get to and fro the mechanic.
Today is my buddy Aaron's birthday. I think he is 51. I lose track of how old people are sometimes. I'm thinking of all the crazy crazy July 4th and Aaron Birthday fun we had back in the day. I miss him. Anyway. Here's a picture of Aaron and Geoff from the long ago times.
