About a month ago, I got a letter informing me I have been summoned for jury duty. I set the document aside and thought oh crap,,, is it today? Today? Am I supposed to be there today?
Next Monday. Okay, alright, okay alright.... alright. Minor panic attack resolving.
I basically saw the blue text for Trial Jury Summ........ and put it on the table and didn't read the rest of the document. I was supposed to complete the form and send it back within 10 days of receiving the letter. Ope. It is way beyond 10 days but okay. It has an online version so I filled that out. Done did that.
Sigh.
I am all for serving on a jury. I think it is a very important part of our citizenship, for our nation. I for one would like to know a good bunch of jurors would be on my jury, if ever (God forbid) I need a jury.
I don't hate it. I don't hate the idea.
But wow do I not feel like doing this. I have to be there at 8:45am. That is so freaking early. Parking downtown is an absolute nightmare, so maybe Doug can drive me? I can walk home, it is just about a mile and a half. Weather permitting, of course.
Heck, maybe I could walk there. For sure, I could walk back.
There is a cute bookstore nextdoor, so if I don't get picked, I can stop in. I could also take myself out to lunch at my fave downtown bar. Or dinner if I have to sit.
After all, I get the full day off technically.
Our downtown is cute. I like it. And the summons says to expect to be called for a week, so I could be spending a bunch of time down there.
Thankfully it isn't this week because on the 22nd, I am supposed to go to the office. And I don't want to miss that.
This morning, while listening to a meeting on my ear buds I baked a banana bread. I had bought bananas and Geoff didn't eat them all so four of them were available to be converted to baked goods. It was a little drier than usual, even with the four bananas, so that ws a tiny bit disappointing? But it didn't stop me from enjoying a slice right out of the pan. Gosh, that's good.
In other stupid news of stupid, your girl needed new sheet pans. The ones I have had, over 11 years old at this point, are kind of falling apart. Two have holes in the bottom so you can't make a tray of chicken parm, the sauce drips out. Good for cookies but not much else.
Yesterday at Target, I saw some nice shiny big wonderful NordicWare sheet pans. Fuck yes.
Well, they are bigger than the other ones, and do not fit in my dishwasher standing up on the bottom shelf. The other ones just barely fit. You can stand one up fully straight and if you wash a second, it has to be in there at an angle so as not to get hit by the spinny watery arm dealie.
These, well. One at a time, at an angle, and a bigger angle at that so you can't really put something under it.
Or, I can hand wash them for life.
Well. They're awesome and I'm not mad. I just wish I hadn't actually impulse bought something without knowing how big it should be.
I made a roast chicken for dinner, and should have put it in the oven at 4pm instead of 5. Good thing Doug had a meeting at 5:30 that went for over an hour, and then worked after for some time. After dinner, I was short on steps, because I'd only done 15 minutes on the treadmill running so Toffee and I went out. Wow, was it cold at 8pm. Damn. I'm not ready for cold.
Doug has another meeting tomorrow morning at 7, and then he has to go to the office in Virginia. I think Geoff may be working tomorrow? Not sure.
If he is, I'm here solo for the day and I think I will bake a pumpkin pie.
