The Drear and the Bluegrass

(Should have published Saturday but fell asleep before publishing)

Hurricane Ian's remnants are at our house. They arrived Friday night in waves and bands. We went to bed with the window open and Doug woke up shortly after dawn Saturday and closed our bedroom window because the curtain was basically flapping like a flag into the room.

I snuggled under the covers and continued to sleep but he was up for the day. I slept until 10, and it still felt as dark and dreary as it did at 7. No sunlight, no inspiration.

Doug went to the farmers' market and  I opted to stay home and continue to drink coffee.  He had to get the emissions tested on our car and Maryland has a drive up, 24 hour kiosk you can use for that, so he said hey... let's do that and then go to a brewery.

Alright alright alright!

We got to the kiosk and he got an error message saying we had to go in person to the emissions center, which is not open weekends. So brewery here we come.

We opted to go to Pherm Brewing, a place that we've been wanting to visit for a long time. Today in Annapolis there was supposed to be the Annapolis Baygrass Bluegrass festival. I almost bought tickets for it, but Doug has been such a grumpinstein that I didn't. He loves Yonder Mountain String Band and the overall lineup looked pretty great. But I didn't buy the tickets because I wasn't sure if he'd want to go.

The hurricane coming through was a big deal and they canceled that fest. But some of the bands were she at the brewery. Which was an extra awesome bonus feature for our visit.

What fun.

The place was packed, and we had fun listening to two bands, one of which I got their name the other I didn't. Here's a weblink to Wicked Sycamore. Go check them out. We got to meet lots of dogs, and we had Phineas with us but he's not friendly with other dogs. But lots of children patted him. Everyone there had intended to be at the fest, so there were tons of kids and dogs, and parents chilling and drinking their beers and having fellowship with friends. It was really fun and I could just imagine all these happy people outside at a festival with their food and their beers and just ... happiness. So they made good with what they had.

They have a Grateful Dead vibe at the brewery with lots of artwork and tie dye. The signs on the bathroom door were funny with the nod to the classic "The Women Are Smarter."

It was a good day.

We got home and Geoff didn't go to the market so we didn't have food. Hmm. I called an audible and ordered Chinese food. I ordered ... a lot of chinese food. It was delicious, but then I got a headache and stomach ache, and had a rough night sleeping. Dehydrated. So I drank a lot of water, and then had to get up a lot to go to the bathroom.

Still... great day for what would have been a sad washout if we let that happen.
